vigilum vigilum is a faux-superhero community set in the fictional location of lawton, a thriving, sprawling city, and tourism hub with diverse neighborhoods, beaches and waterfronts, a nearby national park, amusement park and more appealing amenities for everyone from the single person to the family of five and more, there's something for everyone in lawton, including the people with powers, civilians and something between both. the existence of people with powers is known and generally accepted, instead of picking nyc or los angeles, we've decided to create our own city with various elements taken from other existing locations.

for all community based rules, see here.
the setting: the world is traditional meaning the earth cities are all the same. this just means earth locations in the dc universe don't exist. other planets and themyscira are fair game. superheroes are out and known the world. no one is in hiding and their existence is generally known and accepted by the general public. while nyc is normally the most used and typical city for superhero settings we are changing things up to los angeles, california.

it should be noted while none of the locations or buildings, and settings exist from the mcu, dceu, image comics, darkhorse, and indie publishers and their comic media, there are films and shows about superheroes, just not the ones you choose to play here, any other media exists as usual and will be treated as fair game.

regarding locations; ie: batcave, xavier school, avengers tower, the watchtower, and everything else along the lines, will not be featured here, but that's not to say you're unable to discover or come up with creative manners in which to have your character's comic or movie similarities brought into game, long as it fits the setting and doesn't reference the exact names. we'll allow players to team up outside of our presented factions, but please come to us with any ideas or questions regarding that in the member's post, or dropbox if you're thinking of joining.

connections: before getting to the claim rules, please remember that your characters are original. you are simply lifting their abilities, costumes and basic backgrounds (to be changed however much you want or do not want). their name and connections can and should be different. if you hold spider-gwen, don't spend days only wanting to find connections with fellow spider-man characters. mix and match families, friendships, have exes from all different universes!

faux-superhero claims: choose any character to base your character off of. they can be from marvel, the dc universe or any independent superhero comic you'd like. original characters in movies and tv shows are allowed but they must have some sort of wiki/fandom page.

villains this isnt a hero vs villain community. grey area characters are allowed but full on bad guys we ask you to stray away from unless you plan on pulling them more into a grey area characterizarion.

whitewashing - please defer to your character's comic race. we don't care if marvel whitewashed a character, that isn't an opening for it to happen here. if your character has a shaky comic past and has been different races for whatever reason we ask that you use the most used one. you can change a character's race from caucasian to any poc you want as they are under represented.

ethnicity swapping - like the whitewashing rule, please defer to your character's comic ethinicity. one of the biggest offenders in the past have been swapping out different asian ethnicities for another - please do not do this. if your character is japanese, please use a japanese pb, etc.

genderbending is not allowed unless you'd like to make them non-binary.

sexuality finally, do not change a lgbtq character's sexuality. traditionally straight characters are easy to come by so you can make your batman gay if you'd like.

age as long as your character is 18+ you can play them at whatever age you'd like.

non-hero claims we are not barring anyone from holding characters like lois lane, jimmy olsen, pepper potts, et cetera you are more than welcome as we don't mind seeing these characters mix in with the fray.
